Early Adolescence    1982-2000
Mangas and math. I’d say those two words pretty much sum up the early years. I remember staying up late on school nights drawing and refining my craft. Growing up as an Asian American male meant having parents who force fed education, primarily math, down your throat. Although I fought long and hard against them, in hindsight I’m incredibly grateful for their tenacity. I was approaching the end of my glorious days in high school and coming to the harsh reality of not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. I had realized my passion for the arts mixed with my infatuation with technology had translated into an appreciation for graphic design on the web and in video games. So with the support of my parents, I decided to go with Computer Science.

Rutgers Era    2001-2004
After completing my first two introductory classes to Computer Science (CS101 & CS102), I remember thinking to myself, “Why In the world did I choose CS?!” Nearly 70% of the students were weeded out of the CS program. To this day I’m still not sure how I made it, but I’m proud to say I survived. I have a love-hate relationship with Rutgers. Everyone who has been to Rutgers understands the phrase, “the RU Screw.” Be that as it may, I’m glad I attended Rutgers for the campus life and the relationships I’ve acquired through the years. Counter-Strike LAN parties, pulling all nighters at the student center, “Fat Cats”, The Golden Rail, and the list goes on. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science with a minor in Psychology. Upon graduating, I was immediately requested by some friends to work on a startup e-commerce company in Cambridge, MA. I figured it would be an experience and adventure to be at the mecca of academia.

Career Life    2005-2009
Since graduating from Rutgers, I've worked at several places. Some people might look at my resume and think, “5 years and you've been at 4 companies?!” It's true, I've jumped around but I've always maintained a good relationship with my former employers. I've worked with a diverse group of development teams ranging from solo development to working in a huge web shop. Looking back, I can see how I've evolved my design and coding expertise. However, I’m still unsatisfied with my level of proficiency and I continue to improve my skills.

Where I Am Now    2009+
I am fortunate to have experienced a wide and diverse group of work environments in such a short period of time. I’m confident I’ve found the niche I’ve been searching for. Web design and development requires artistic creative juices and a brain for math. I recall all the skills I’ve picked up along the way and I can see how it’s cultivated who I am today. My love for art gave me an eye for design, the forceful math blessed me to understand math logic, the minor in Psychology opened my mind to understand human behavior and thought patterns for UI designs, and most importantly, being surrounded by a diverse culture made me fun. All in all, I feel as though my life experiences has honed my skills for this type of work and people.
